It seems my prediction was right! Mr Big has announced I will be getting my new bathroom very soon and he has already started knocking down the wall in the room behind it to make space (we are extending into the bedroom behind).
Woo hoo.
So perhaps we will be able to enjoy a 'normal' sized bath sometime in the not too distant future. I say normal as we currently have a very small bath which is about two thirds of the size of a standard issue.
It's not too much of a problem for me, being a shortie and all. But it is for Mr Big who cannot even sit comfortably in said tub without his knees bent up.
Truth be told I am very excited by the prospect of a new bathroom as this one is too small for a family. We have this funny window arrangement which is a bit odd but will have to stay. We have 'temporary carpet' down which is basically an offcut we were given which we chopped to roughly the right shape thinking we would replace with 'proper' carpet at some point. That was 2 and a bit years ago!
The teenie tub we have covered. The room itself really is too small to 'swing a cat'. Not a real one. Obviously. But Baby A's 'Miaow' wouldn't fit when I tried earlier.
(not really) I do have better things to do you know!
Put it this way though. I tried to take a picture from inside the bathroom as close to the wall corner as I could get so I could attempt to give you an idea of its size. However in said attempt I managed to knock the toilet roll off the holder and smack my head on a cupboard. So even for a shortie the space is tight!
The bath suite itself is pretty old and Mr Big has added a shower attachment since we have lived here, but it's not an ideal set up. And until the boiler upgrade, we had rubbish water pressure, so the shower was more of a 'sprinkle'.
Thanks to the boiler upgrade, the water system is better as it doesn't have to travel so far and lose so much pressure any more. However our shower system can't cope with that as it wasn't built for it, so now Mr Big has had to extend our shower head and re-attach further up so it's held fast in place to take the force of the water. It now looks like some sort of 'shower giraffe' and I haven't a hope in hell of reaching it so it had better not fly off and shower the room and everything in it!
If it does (attachment was altered today) then I'm sure there will be another post!
In the meantime my next job is to work out what I'm doing for bathroom design. I will post ideas as I see them.
Here are some pics of how it looks today, including the carpet (which is incidentally filthy as dirty plumbing materials have left marks!), giraffe shower, weird windows, and the 'ball light' as Baby A likes to refer to it.
