Life seems so crazy at the minute, I thought I'd write a typical day to remind myself of what I used to do when Baby A's all grown up and off to Big School, and the whole routine is controlled by school hours.
And, if I'm honest, so I can remember! I'm sure having babies scrambles the brain.
It might also help explain why there is so little room for anything else! Life is so full it feels like it's bursting at the seams.
But we do keep the good stuff in too. This year I am attempting at least one 'fun thing' a month where Mr Big & I also get our own time. Whether that's an afternoon to ourselves or a weekend. I have come to realise it is not a 'nice to have'. It's fundamental. More about that elsewhere.
For now, here's a typical day.
7.30 up, nappy, breakfast, play
8.30 tidy kitchen, load/unload dishwasher, put on washing, clean high chair
9.00 brush teeth, washed and dressed (baby A & me) and put away washing that has been drying
10.00 playtime, story, snack & episode of Waybuloo (thanks to the saviour that is 'on demand' tv!)
11.00 Baby A naptime. Whilst she is sleeping I sort the next load of washing, tidy up where toys have been strewn at playtime, write my blog or work and prepare lunch and sometimes dinner (if I'm slow cooking) and get Baby A's bag ready for wherever she is off to in the afternoon
13.00 Up and lunch or straight off to nursery where I take her lunch and they feed her (and we are very fortunate that we have a very good nursery within 10 minute walking distance).
13.30 Sort next load of washing/tidy/dishwasher/get ready for, and drive to, business meeting
14.00 work - laptop/phone/meetings etc
17.30 Collect Baby A and make our way home
18.00 home and prepare dinner
18.30 dinner served and eaten
19.00 Mr Big baths Baby A and gets her 'bed ready' while I clear up after dinner, meal plan what we are having for tomorrow's dinner & remove from the freezer whatever is needed for tomorrow's main meal
19.20 bedtime story
19.30 Baby A bedtime
19.31 make a decaf coffee and collapse on the sofa for at least a few mins before film/tv/blog (best case) / work
22.00 / 23.00 Bed
And then it all starts again.
