Oh my goodness. I hate cabin fever. But boy do I suffer from it.
Yes I'm fortunate that much of what I do is very closeby. Which is a great time saver and so on.
But, it also means there are days at a time where there is really no great need for me to go anywhere.
I work from home. I shop online. I run the household. My daughter's nursery is 5 mins from my house. My Mum comes to see me on a Wednesday. I have a treadmill in my room.
You get the picture.
No actual need to GO anywhere. Unless I'm seeing customers, but I don't always need to physically see them.
So. At times of heavy admin such as now, I become a hermit.
It has been so utterly freezing here lately I haven't even been able to take Baby A to the park. Even the garden was frozen. But not snow. Just ice.
So today I decided I must break free of my claustrophobia and escape. Outside.
So I did.
I organised myself so that when I took Baby A to nursery, rather than about-turning as usual, I was already equipped with laptop and phone, and on I went to our local cafe.
It is quite a cool cafe. More of a diner. And it's always got a bit of a buzz about the place. So I thought the background atmosphere would help me feel less of a loner and in some way actually connected to a world outside of my house.
It worked. I had 3 pure hours of uninterrupted time. Where people waited on me and brought me drinks while I busily typed away.
All was well. I felt human again. And had ploughed through some very dull administration.
I was feeling very pleased with myself.
There had been a purpose to my being dressed. And it mattered that I had bothered with my make up. Yes!
Until I came to pay. I searched frantically through my bags (yes one for the laptop and one for everything else).
Nope. No wallet, purse, cash or cards of any kind. Oh dear.
After much embarrassed confessing on my part, the staff were fine and let me go home to collect my method of payment. So I trotted home, then back to pay, and then on again to pick up Baby A.
This would have been quite the inconvenience were it not for the fact I was still euphoric at my leaving the house status. So I didn't mind at all.
Notes to self: next time, get out of the house sooner but bring your wallet!!
